Aftermath of KENDRICK LAMAR(KING OF NEW YORK) Declaration

Adetayo Tolulope@swaggertols

Kendrick Lamar also known as K.dot is no doubt taking control of the hip-hop game.

The 26-year-old rapper’s verse on Big Sean’s single “Control,” which was released Tuesday, reminded fellow lyricists what the true nature of hip-hop is … competition.

Lamar’s lyrics, which begin at approximately three minutes into the song, include: “I’m usually homeboys with the same n—-s I’m rhyming with/ But this is hip-hop and them n—-s should know what time it is/ And that goes for Jermaine Cole, Big K.R.I.T., Wale/ Pusha T, Meek Mill, A$AP Rocky, Drake/ Big Sean, Jay Electron’, Tyler, Mac Miller/ I got love for you all but I’m tryna murder you n—-s/ Tryna make sure your core fans never heard of you n—-s/ They don’t wanna hear not one more noun or verb from you n—-s/ What is competition?”

His words sparked quite a reaction in the Twitterverse with fans and rappers alike stating their opinion.

“I hear u loud and clear my n—- … @kendricklamar,” rapper Pusha T tweeted shortly after the song’s release.

Even emcees who weren’t called out by Lamar had something to say.

“Any studios open yet?” Brooklyn-born rapper Fabolous tweeted shortly after 7 a.m. Tuesday.

Frank Micelotta/Frank Micelotta/Invision/AP

Kendrick Lamar’s verses had Twitter blazing, especially when the Compton, Calif. rapper boasted about being the King of New York, the birthplace of hip-hop.

Missy Elliot tweeted a thank you to Lamar for reminding rap artists “2 be Lyrical and have substance again.”

But what about the fact that the Compton, Calif. native also called himself the “King of New York” in the rap when he said: “I’m Makaveli’s offspring I’m the King of New York/ King of the coast/ One hand I juggle them both.”

“A Cali n—- just said he’s the King of NY & u n—-s so f—ing worried about your relationships, y’all make me sick,” New Jersey rapper Joe Budden wrote. “Where’s all NY!???!”

Lupe Fiasco wasn’t dazzled by Lamar’s words either and folded in a lyrical response in his tweet from his private account: “Y’all know y’all easily impressed. Bar so low you need a shovel to get at it.”

Despite any backlash the “Poetic Justice” rapper received, his fans certainly had his back.

“Kendrick aint diss nobody he was basically saying Everything is a competition ain’t no friends when you tryna get to the top,” one fan wrote.

Another tweeted: “Kendrick just reminded ya’ll that this is Hip Hop. A competition of words. No rap beef … just lyrical challenge. As it should be.”

Another Fan(Prince Bade Olagbegi) wrote: ”My dad would say every Prince has it behind his mind to be king but only one person can be crowned..Kendrick Lamar Crowned himself.#BOSS!

But Diddy arguably said it best when he simply tweeted: “KENDRICK!!!!! Ohhhh Sh********t”

Kendrick spits:
I’m in a destruction mode if the gold exists.
I’m important like the pope, I’m a muslim on pork
I’m Makaveli’s offspring, I’m the king of New York
King of the Coast, one hand, I juggle them both
The juggernaut’s all in your jugular, you take me for jokes
Live in the basement, church pews and funeral faces
Cartier bracelets for my women friends I’m in Vegas
Who the fuck y’all thought it’s supposed to be?
If Phil Jackson came back, still no coachin’ me
I’m uncoachable, I’m unsociable. Fuck y’all clubs, fuck y’all pictures
Your Instagram can gobble these nuts
See his diss of other rappers and their reaction after the cut…

Kendrick also called out a few rappers…see the verse below..

I heard the barbershops be in great debates all the time
Bout who’s the best MC? Kendrick, Jigga and Nas
Eminem, Andre 3000, the rest of y’all
New niggas just new niggas, don’t get involved
And I ain’t rockin no more designer shit
White T’s and Nike Cortez, this is red Corvettes anonymous
I’m usually homeboys with the same niggas I’m rhymin’ wit
But this is hip hop and them niggas should know what time it is
And that goes for Jermaine Cole, Big KRIT, Wale
Pusha T, Meek Millz, A$AP Rocky, Drake
Big Sean, Jay Electron’, Tyler, Mac Miller
I got love for you all but I’m tryna murder you niggas
Tryna make sure your core fans never heard of you niggas
They dont wanna hear not one more noun or verb from you niggas
What is competition? I’m tryna raise the bar high
Who tryna jump and get it? You better off tryna skydive

Nollywood Actress: Foluke Daramola Finally Re-marries

Daramola-and-SalakoContrary to the expectations of her critics, controversial actress, Foluke Daramola is set to wed her lover and business associate, Olukayode Salako, in a traditional ceremony that is scheduled to take place in Lagos on Friday, February 15, 2013 (today).

The couple may have decided to have a low-key wedding, which will be attended by only close friends and relations, in order to avoid getting entangled in another web of negative reactions from their critics and other members of the public.

In a text message, which she  sent to Art & Life on Wednesday, Daramola said, “My hearthrob, Olukayode Ezekiel Salako, would like to engage me, Foluke Omolola Daramola,  amongst a few family members and friends, in a traditional wedding engagement on the February 15, which coincides with my birthday,  at 2, Gbeleyi Avenue, by Femifoam Oyemekun College Road, Ifako-Ijaiye.Time:12 noon. Please, no African time and pray for us ahead. Your presence will gladden our ‘heart’, God bless u.”

Daramola was married before with two children. Until now, her whirlwind romance with Salako, a businessman, politician and civil rights activist, had been the subject of much debate within the social circles of Lagos.

In a previous interview with the The PUNCH, the actress had said that marriage was not on her agenda. She had expressed her desire to proceed on further studies abroad.

Apart from that, Daramola and the groom-to-be had planned to start a non-governmental organisation, known as Change Agents, that would work towards promoting patriotism among young Nigerians.

At the moment, it appears that marriage is uppermost in their minds. Perhaps, tomorrow’s  wedding is aimed at finally shutting up their critics and others who have accused the actress of breaking Salako’s marriage of many years.

Tiwa Savage & Manager Tee Billz Are Now Engaged!!!

It’s confirmed! After months of denial and hiding, R&B-Pop singer Tiwa Savage and her manager Tunji ‘Tee Billz’ are now officially engaged!

Tee Billz made a formal proposal to Tiwa Savage tonight, February 5, 2013, nine days to Valentine’s Day. The romantic moment was witnessed by a few celebrity friends including label boss Don Jazzy, Dr SID, Banky W, OAP Toolz and several others.

The pair had denied the relationship for years, and when the marriage rumours surfaced weeks back, their denials became even more vehement. But the past few days proved they had gotten tired of living a lie; with photos, and tweets from here and Dubai confirming what they had hidden for long.

‘I am not engaged and I am not dating Tee Billz. If I am, you would have seen a ring on my finger indicating that I am engaged. It’s just a rumour’, she told Encomium in December 2012.

But the rumours re-emerged when the pair flew to Dubai and checked into the luxurious Burj Al Arab Hotel, spending time together, taking boat cruises and the likes. Sources are suggesting that Tiwa and Mr Balogun might even have wedded and that the Dubai trip was their honeymoon.

This morning which happens to be Tiwa’s 34 birthday, Tee Billz reportedly updated his BlackBerry Messenger status to ’Happy birthday Mrs Billz‘. Tiwa also posted two cakes on her Instagram page. The inscription on the first cake reads ‘Happy birthday Mrs Billz‘.

‘The power to deny their relationship grows weaker by the day, they are really in love with each other’, a source close to the couple tells us. ‘Now that they have announced their status to everyone, the tension will cease’.

Congrats guys!

SAD: 19-year-old UNILAG student commits suicide

When a young undergraduate suddenly commits suicide, neighbours and friends are bound to draw various conclusions.

It is a more puzzling tragedy because suicide is not common among youths in Nigeria.

Till date, people are wondering why an undergraduate of the University of Lagos identified simply as Seun committed suicide on January 19. His action has left his family and friends in shock.

Claims by neighbours that he was a brilliant student in school could not be ascertained as efforts to investigate which department he was, proved abortive.

He lived with his aunt at 9, Alhaja Adijat Lawal, Beesam, Mafoluku, Lagos, where the incident was said to have occurred.

When our correspondent paid the family a visit, Seun’s aunt was still in shock.

“Please, I cannot say anything because this is a big tragedy for us,” said the woman, who did not give her name, said.

But some neighbours who spoke to our correspondent gave an insight into the kind of person Seun was and the circumstances surrounding his alleged suicide.

Most of those who spoke declined to give their names because they fear the deceased’s family might not look kindly upon them for speaking on their tragedy.

A young woman said of Seun, “I knew he was a student. I just did not know he attended UNILAG. He was an easy going and quiet man. We probably would have been close if he was not the quiet type.

“The day of the incident, I just got home from an errand and I was told Seun had been rushed to a hospital. When I asked what happened, I was told he went out to buy a substance and locked himself inside his room.

“I still don’t know what happened to make him take that action. I think those in the house when he went to buy the substance must have suspected he was going to do something drastic because they later forced the door open, but he had already ingested the substance he went to buy. They quickly took him to the hospital.”

It was learnt that Seun died later that evening in the hospital.

The young woman who spoke with our correspondent said she did not know the hospital Seun was taken to for treatment.

Our correspondent went to St. Nicholas Clinic, which was the nearest to the street to find out if any young man was brought there on January 19 for suspected poison ingestion. A nurse, who identified herself as Ibidun, said their records showed no such thing.

A beer joint operator on a street adjacent to Seun’s street said he knew the deceased too. But he could only remember him as “a very quiet young man of about 27 years old.”

The young woman who had earlier spoken with our correspondent put Seun’s age at around 28.

Suicides are still seen as taboo in many parts of Nigeria, a reason family and friends of victims would rather not speak about it in public.

“Please, whatever you want to know, I think it is better you speak with the family,” a tailor around the building where Seun lived told our correspondent.

Seun’s suicide remains shrouded in mystery more because the police have said no report was made about it.

Public Relations Officer of the Airport Police Command, Lagos, Mr. Dennis Ifijen, said, “We have no record of the case. I have not heard about it.”

Seun is the second undergraduate of UNILAG to commit suicide in the last one month, Saturday PUNCH learnt.

On New Year’s Eve, Damilola Durojaiye, a computer science student of the university, also allegedly committed suicide at his parents’ Akute-Ajuwon, Ogun State home.

The 19-year-old was said to be a brilliant student with a cumulative grade point average of about 3.9.

He reportedly stayed at home when his parents went for the cross-over service, only for them to come back and see his body dangling from where he hanged himself.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Mr. Muyiwa Adejobi, said at the time that a suicide note was found where Durojaiye hung himself.

It probably may never be known what drove Seun to consider suicide as the way out like Durojaiye, but the incident is a pointer to the fact that problems faced by youths in the country are increasingly becoming psychological.

Wizkid Hints At Dumping EME???

The clouds of rumours about Wizkid leaving his EME record label aren’t clearing away anytime soon, thanks to the pop artiste himself who seems to be heavily hinting about parting ways with the label.
Even though label boss Banky W has cleared the air on several occasions most recently on a Factory 78 interview early this year, fans are worried as they feel the 22-year-old pop star might be going solo.
Today, February 1, 2013, Wizzy began a rant on Twitter suggesting something very similar to what we’ve been hoping will not happen.
‘Don’t take Loyalty for stupidity..don’t!‘, ‘Moving on to start all over again!…Fuck it!..‘, ‘If dey sleep on u..move on!‘ were Wizkid’s statements on social media Twitter.
Wizkid, we gathered, Weezy has already signed a management deal in the UK with management company Disturbing London run by Nigerian-UK rapper Tinie Tempah. The deal we learn was inked early December 2012.
Wizkid also ended his long-year deal with his start-up manager Osagie Osarenkhoe back in September 2012, hiring Godwin Tom as an immediate replacement.
‘He’s growing into a man, making his own decisions. He fired Osagie and hired Godwin, if his contract with EME expires, who says he can’t leave?‘, an insider in the EME camp tells NET.
No word from Wizkid’s manager Godwin Tom as he is yet to respond to our E-mails.

D’banj is Illuminati—Reggae Star Majek Fashek says he sold his soul to the devil

According to many Nigerians The AfterMath of D’banj being signed up on G.O.O.D MUSIC record Label is to sell his soul to the devil which many have confirmed to be true upon the break up with Don-Jazzy which was said to have happened as a result of D’banj joining Illuminati..
Recently Popular reggae star Majek Fashek has alleged that D’bnj is a member of the satanic Illuminati cult.

Fashek was quoted as saying: ‘I like Wizkid and 2face, they play good music‘I don’t like that other boy called D’banj, those ones that went to join Illuminati. How can you go and sell your soul to the devil because you want to be famous. I don’t even like his music anyway’

Only God knows who is who???

%23EME-Team-1As we speak, there seems to be an unrest in Banky W’s Empire Mates Entertainment (EME) music label over unconfirmed reports of Wizkid’s exit from the record label. Since Wizkid left EME mansion for his Lekki, Lagos home, various reports have claimed that all is no more well between Mr Capable and ‘Holla At Ur Boy’ crooner, who now seems to expect his boss, Banky W, to ‘holla at his man’ and not a boy anymore.

Even though Banky W has reportedly claimed Wizkid is still part of EME crew, industry sources have stressed that the time bomb will soon explode just as it went between D’Banj and Don Jazzy in 2012 almost about this time and all will know the true state of Banky W’s business relationship with Wizkid, who they say, wants to move on unto a bigger level than EME.

These exit reports have left some of the EME crew in panic. It is not too clear to Nigeriafilms.com what other members of the label, who sources say are overshadowed by Wizkid’s success, feel about these reports, but we learnt that Banky W may be losing sleep amidst reports in the media over the reported Wizkid’s exit from the label soon.

Efforts to contact Banky W to make him speak about this issue proved abortive as he didn’t pick our calls put through to him. We sent a text message to his known phone number last week but as we speak, he hasn’t replied our SMS.

NBC Bans Timaya,Wande Coal,P-square And 5 Other Videos

I know you all are wondering why this videos were banned..The Nigerian Broadcast Commission (NBC) has placed a NTBB ban on a new set of music videos.
Sources gathered that the banned videos include Psquare (Alingo), Wande Coal (Go low), Timaya (Bum bum), Flavour (Shake) for being ‘suggestive and provocative’. Others include D’Prince (Take banana), Goldie (Ski bobo), Chuddy K (Brazilian hair) and Tillaman (Koma roll).
In response to the ban, Psquare’s publicist, Bayo Adetu said, ‘We also just saw the story online this morning and we do not think that the NBC’s ban is justifiable’.
He also added that the ban would not make any difference since the video has already gone worldwide and is definitely loved by the fans.
NBC has always exercised its power to regulate the contents on Nigerian television and radio stations especially in recent times. It would be recalled that videos like Femi Kuti’s ‘Bang bang bang’, Konga’s ‘Baby konga’, and most recently, DJ Zeez’s ‘Body Language’ have come under the axe of the NBC.
I know you all are wondering why the videos were banned..The videos have been banned for different reasons and they are expected to be taken off every local television stations only. NBC does not regulate what airs on cable channels like MTV Base, Soundcity, Trace and Channel O, as well as internet platforms like Youtube and Vimeo.
In a release by the NBC, the videos classified as ‘not to be broadcast in whole or in part’, were banned for different reasons. The videos include and the reasons are as follows:

I know you all will definitely agree with me on this one that Don Jazzy is not only a DON but also BOSS and the Collins Family is a Fam of Bosses..

It’s all about business in the family of Michael ‘Don Jazzy‘ Collins I must say; .Don Jazzy who recently took over Austin ‘Jay Jay’ Okocha’s CLUB 10 (now renamed POP) and brother James collins have made millions from the entertainment world, now they are delving into even more profitable business ventures (OIL and Gas).

From the information we gathered the brothers have set up an Oil and gas service company called MAVIN ENERGY. The company described on their official website that the company ‘will a 24 hours door-to-door diesel delivery service that supplies and retails Petroleum products, offers services in construction of diesel storage tanks and leasing of trucks’.

James Collins is currently acting as the company’s CEO while Don Jazzy is working behind-the-scenes.

Don’t forget my recent post about the rumour of Tiwa Savage marriage with his manager. The kele-kele love crooner took to twitter to clear up rumors of the alleged marriage

Rumors has been swirling around the internet that Tiwa Savage secretely married her manager, and also in an interview gave advice to single women. She has come out to say none of that is true, and she never gave such an interview.

Don’t mind them Tiwa!!Trust Xclusive24 we will update you about the proper wedding

Am sure you will definitely agree this is not a good way to start the year…

Iyanya Mbuk is allegedly wanted by the Nigerian Police in Port Harcourt, Rivers State after allegedly ’defrauding’ popular show organizer Opa Williams of N1.7m being payment for the singer’s performance at two events.

IYANYAAccording to sources Iyanya was paid the said amount to perform at two ‘Nite of a Thousand Laughs‘ events which held in Benin and Port Harcourt. The ‘Kukere‘ singer missed both shows.

The latter which was held last night on New Year’s Day featured a performance from rapper Olamide and was hosted by Bovi. Guests had waited for the singer to step on stage and thrill as the highly publicized show had promised a performance from him. Iyanya never showed up.

Interestingly, Iyanya is believed to have traveled on the same flight (allegedly paid for by the show organizers) with Olamide and Bovi.

Sources said the singer shunned Opa Williams’ event, performing instead, at another show in Omuma local government area, also in Port Harcourt which also featured Timaya.

We were all disappointed, we waited in vain. As soon as Bovi announced he was not going to show up, everybody started leaving‘, a guest who attended the event held at the open ground of the Hotel Preseidential, PH said.

Just this morning, sources say Policemen from the Nigerian Police at the Mile 3 division invited Iyanya and his manger Ubi-Franklin Ekapong to the Police station over the matter which was reported by the show organizers led by Opa Williams.

The officers could only get Ubi-Franklin to station. ‘Yes I was at the Police Station this morning, we have decided to return all money paid to us, it’s not a problem‘, Ubi-Franklin told an online reporter in a telephone conversation.

Ubi went on to explain what the whole brouhaha was all about:

We were paid to attend and perform at the Benin and Port Harcourt shows but we missed both due to reasons beyond our control. We missed the Benin gig because we were in Ghana as at that time and we arrived pretty late for the PH gig. We however had issues with initial payment from the show organizers also…

While partying with 2face in Dubai, Banky W in an exclusive interview had this to say:
“It’s all bad belle people, they think there may be bad news and when you don’t give them that news they start to create it because bad news sells more than good news.

First of all (go down low…lol), there was no twitter fight, people go online and use photoshop to create my profile and then they go and create Wizkid’s profile and say he said this and that – even when it never happened. What happened is that we have been working on Wizzy’s project to make it work internationally and when you are getting to that level, things change.

He has his own idea of what he wants to do and we are in 100% support of that and these were the things we dreamed of back in 2009 when I signed him….Wizkid is still signed to the E.M.E!!!

On Wizkid’s starboy entertainment, he said “well you know that is something else he wants to do, he wants to start his record label just like I started mine then and see where I am today. You have a lot of people fabricating stuff and trying to make it feel like there is a battle and you know we don’t believe in that…we are all mature and grown up people…he is absolutely and still part of the family…”

When asked “how does it work for him to have star boy entertainment and still be part of E.M.E”
he said, “I would give you a fantastic example, Kanye West has GOOD MUSIC and he is still with Rock Nation, ROCKAFELLA…I rest my case”

Nigerian-born rapper Wale says Wizkid will feature on his forthcoming album ‘The Gifted’ scheduled for release on June 25, 2013.

The Maybach Music Group rapper revealed this a few weeks ago on Twitter while dropping some hints on how his new album would sound.

Best believe I got some new music for that green white green on my new album.. Ask @wizkidayo‘, @Wale wrote.

A few weeks before that Wale had expressed Wizzy as his favourite African artiste.

The pair must have spent quite some time in the studio last year; Wizkid also disclosed in an interview with OK! Magazine that he had enlisted Wale on his upcoming mixtape.
